Ok I have a question. I'm going to get a 300 watt kit. I'm not sure what batteries to get for it. I'm getting a 12 v fridge from either dometic or arb. Also I want to run my laptop, charge my phone, LED lights, and when I cook I'm going to have my convection oven (basically toaster oven) and a griddle to boil on, and lastly the fantastic fan. My question is what kind of battery do I need and should I get two? The short answer is that you're going to need deep cycle marine batteries, and plenty of them. I seriously doubt that one is going to handle all the current that a 12V fridge, convection oven, griddle and fan all demand. The long answer is that you need to find out the current draw of all the devices you plan on powering and anticipate how much solar power you'll be able to realistically "harvest" per day in order to estimate how many batteries you'll need. In my opinion, my very general rule of thumb for keeping a typical deep cycle marine battery happy is one 100 Watt solar panel per battery. So, for a 300 watt kit, I'd go with a bank of three. But that's knowing absolutely nothing else but how many solar panels I have, the amount of sunshine I typically get around here, and the usual deep cycle marine batteries readily available around my neck of the woods.

Most fridges will use about 1 kw per day alone and that will require at least a 300 watt or more solar panels. And you are not able to use anything else with it. Best thing is to count all your loads. Get the watts and how long/hours they will operate per day.
