Hey All, I’m sure this question has been asked before. That said it’s the only part of this setup that is confusing me.
I recently took advantage of cyber Monday a few weeks back. I purchased the Renogy premium 500w kit. Plenty of watts for what we will be running in our bus conversion. The only item that will run 24hrs is a mini fridge that takes about 60w per hour. Other than that computer, phone, Bluetooth items being charged when needed. In the kitchen the occasional blender. Also occasionally watching tv. So our power needs are small.
That said I’d still like to have the largest battery bank I can possibly have for those boondocking days. The calculations have me confused on what’s suitable.
What I’m thinking is either 6 or 8 Trojan t105re batteries in parallel. So 675 or 900 amp hours. With the 500w Solar kit can I efficiently charge a battery bank of these sizes?

I would say just 4 batteries with just 500w of panels... Your solar will never charge 6 or 8 batteries with what your going to be using... The only good thing is you have your bus and hopefully a generator to top off your batteries once a week.. A blender uses a lot of power but you will find that out unless it's a small one.. You should be just fine with everything else..
What you need to do is get a kill-a-watt meter figure what you will be using see how much power your are making with your panels a day. Take half of that and that is all you can use in a day..
Good luck, solar is fun when used correctly...

450Ah should suffice for our needs. If I need more power later I can always change the charge controller and ad a couple of panels. Thanks for the help.

I started with 4 of the same type batteries and 4 panels and it did great... But sense then I've added 4 more panels and 2 more batteries... You will be amazed with what you can do with just 4 batteries... What size inverter do you have?? Don't forget they use power even when they are just on and not being used.. Happy New years...
