Hi...I just received my 30A PWM charge controller and RNG-100D panel. My question is related to positive grounding the controller/battery to my aluminum dock (which is in direct contact with the water) within a few feet of my boats and boat lift, all of which use negative ground. Is this ok to do? Any particular safety considerations?
The question probably illustrates my naiveté around positive ground, but better safe that burnt chum!

Hello lakeelmo,
Is this system independent of all the boats? If it is, then you want to wire the system as an independent positive ground. That means you would ground this standalone battery on the positive terminal to the dock. If this is not a stand alone battery and is already grounded, special considerations will need to be made regarding use of the charge controller.
If you use this positive ground controller in an existing negative ground system, the only limitation is that you cannot use the DC load terminals on the charge controller.
