Hi, I have a question.
I understand that you can only go up to 400 watts with the solar panels with the 40A MMPT charge controller for 12 volts. What if I wanted to have 500 or 600 watts in solar panels, can I add another charge controller or what can be done? I would rather have more solar panels than keep replacing batteries. Any thoughts or suggestions?

David The best choice, in my opinion, would be to upgrade to a charge controller capable of handling the extra current.

Hello David,
There are 2 options I would recommend. One is to upgrade to a charge controller capable of handling more watts or you can add another 40A MPPT charge controller to your current system. You can wire both these charge controllers to your battery bank.

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping to get a small off-grid system next Spring. I just don't want to spend too much, yet at the same time I want to be able to expand if I can.
