The sensor wire is only 80 inches long. Using on the 30 amp Viewstar. Can I add wire length to reach my battery box? Need 30 more inches. Thanks

The sensor wire is only 80 inches long. Using on the 30 amp Viewstar. Can I add wire length to reach my battery box? Need 30 more inches. Thanks I believe the answer would be yes if you use the exact same type of thermocouple (TC) wire so that you do not introduce a 'cold-junction' which would change (slightly) the millivolt output per degree of temperature coefficient. I do not know what type of TC wire they use at Renogy, so you may need to purchase another TS-R for the wire. Okay, TMI...as you know, the Seebeck Effect is a temperature difference between two dissimilar electrical conductors producing a voltage difference between the two conductors. So, if you add wire, the wire has to match and be connected without introducing a different conductor material. So don't butt-splice the wire unless the two ends are physically connect to each other. I asked the Renogy (in this forum) a similar question regarding shortening the length of the TS-R cable. I was checking to see if they had 'tuned' the temperature compensation input to a specific TC wire length. I really doubt that Renogy 'tunes' this, it would be over the top accuracy and I don't think the battery temperature compensation charge rate is that precise...IMO
