Good morning Guys, I recently found some interest in the solar off grid system . I recently purchased a Renogy 100 Watts 12 Volts Monocrystalline Solar Panel and a renogy 30 Amp PWM Charge Controller with LCD Display. I would like to know on how to set up everything and what else to buy to complete my little project. I'm planning on using this system to light some yard lights all 12 volts. Do I need to have a fuse between the charge controller and solar panel if so which one(recommendation). How big of a battery can I charge with my 100 watt panel? which type of battery do I need? Do you guys have any sites where I can buy some nice yard lights that run on 12 volts?. Thanks all for you input in this. Dido

Hello Dido, It looks like all you will need to complete the system is a 12 volt battery. I would recommend using a 60-100 amp hour (AH) battery for example www.renogy-store.com/category-s/1927.htmA fuse is not necessary but you can have a 10 amp fuse between the solar panel and charge controller. as a suggestion. we are currently using lights we bought from menards. this light will light up 100 by 100 square foot area pointing downward at a 10 foot height. they are made buy patriot lighting. model number 343-4117. they are a landscape small flood light. 286 lumens. 3.9 watt total on 12 volt. that's less than .3 amps. I cut the low voltage connector of. hooked it straight to our 12 volt system. this light is about $20.00. have nice day.

when looking for lights you need to think outside the box. it is really hard to find just 12 volt led lights in a fixture that are able to hook straight to 12 volt. you normally have got to cut something or eliminate. I don't know about the internet but when store buying lights its rare I even might say they do not sell 12 volt led in a fixture that you can hook directly to 12 volt without having to cut something off. oh yeah I tried asking renogy if they would sell these lights, they said they would look into it. have a nice day
