OK, I'm at it again. The local temperature sensor acquires ambient temperature to perform temperature compensation for charging and discharging. This is what the manual said for the MPPT 40. To get this straight, if the controller is in an area of the motorhome that will have a pretty much constant temperature, what effect will this have on the charging/discharging? In other words in the summer it will not be exposed to direct sunlight, but the compartment will be relatively warm or even hot, especially with both the inverter and the controller in the same area. They have their own ben in my basement of about 24" x 18" x 10". Again, the batteries are not in this compartment. It has two doors one to the inside of the motorhome and the other to the outside. So I can leave the inside partially open to give it even more air circulation.

Hello, The controller is preset with a temperature compensation of -5mV/°C/2V so depending on the ambient temperature the charging voltage will change. I would make sure the recommended charging voltage for the batteries you have is similar to the output voltage from the charge controller.

Now how does that work? The controller is not adjustable, right? I have interstate 6v batteries with 232 AH each, so I have two wired in series for 12v, unless you are talking about the input we enter at set up, but that is very limited.

Hello, The temperature compensation is adjustable if you have the MT-5 meter. If you don't have the meter then -5mV/°C/2V will be the default value.

OK I have the MT remote meter, so how do you go about setting it?

Hello, Sorry for the delay. On the MT-5 meter you need to cycle to the screen that displays the SOC% and the mV/°C. By pressing the SET button first then using the left and right arrow buttons you can change the value.
