Hi, just registered to this forum. I have an Adventurer on the way, but still have a few questions. I have a large (expensive!) AGM (Universal) battery in my Class C motorhome that I've been maintaining with a StatPower charger, but I want to get free of the ol' extension cord and go solar. I liked the Adventurer because as well as seeming to fit my needs, it is the only flush-mount controller you offer. Anyway, my questions. Like most other controllers, there is no battery setting for AGM, only for flooded, gel, and sealed. Which setting should I use? Also, I have read that AGM batteries don't need equalization. The Adventurer manual says equalization will occur once a month. Will that be harmful to my battery, and can I turn it off?
Thanks much! I've enjoyed reading the Q's and A's on this forum, but didn't find the answers.

Hello, I would recommend setting it to the battery setting that best matches the charging parameters for your AGM battery. Here is a link to the manual for the Adventurer controller. The charging parameters will be under page 16. If the battery recommends not to be equalized I would not equalize it. The controller will equalize once every 28 days under the Sealed and Flooded setting and can not be turned off. Under Gel it will not equalize. www.renogy.com/wp-content/uploads/Manuals/Renogy-Adventurer-30A-PWM-Flush-Mount-Charge-Controller-Manual.pdf
