Hi, I'm old and can't understand the different functions of my MT-5 In simple and plain English can someone please give a very short explanation of the following functions?
Thank you all in advance for your help. Old Man in San Francisco Rod
(Solar panel voltage), (battery voltage, battery current), (load voltage, load current), (battery capacity AH, battery temp.), (battery capacity percentage, temp. compensation), (battery capacity AH, battery type), (Load Timer1 mode, Load Timer2 mode), (discharging accumulation AH, discharging accumulation WH)

solar panel voltage is the ave voltage from the panel, during PWM it will be higher than batt voltage Battery voltage is just that @ the controller Batt current is the charge current into the batt, if you use the load feature at night it will read neg as batt discharge load voltage is similar to batt voltage at the controller load current is the amps being used by the load (typically timed lights at night) batt cap is the amp hr capacity of the battery, input by user batt temp is the temp measured by the temp sensor in the controller, charge voltage is adjusted with temp canges batt cap % is near useless temp comp is the amount of adjustment for temp to charging voltage battery type is the type of batt, a traditonal flooded lead acid, sealed (agm) or gel load timer is the on/off setting for the load feature. a watt meter measures total charge wattage and discharge (load) wattage, reported accumulation over time day month total

But none of this will accurately tell you if you have a "full charge" and then based on that AH use. Either a monitor wired through a shunt, or a hydrometer will be needed for that. The disadvantage to the hydrometer, is, you have to let your batter "set" for 6 to 24 hours before testing with nothing hooked up to it. To make your meter simi accurate, you need to start out with a fully charged battery. Don't get me wrong, Renogy has a wonderful line of chargers and controllers with meters, but like anything depending on how much you want to get into solar, the more you will need. If you don't booddock for lengths of days, don't worry about it.
