I have a 1000 watt inverter with a remote and the remote will turn the inverter off but will not turn it on, any ideas? The make and model of the inverter in question plus some background information might be helpful. Otherwise, all we can do is guess blindly: Did you try changing the batteries in the remote? Maybe the on button on the remote isn't making proper contact? Maybe the inverter won't power on if there's too much of a load engaged on power up? Defective remote? Defective inverter power up logic? Input voltage to the inverter not sufficient for power up? If a wireless remote, RFI interference?

If not wireless, cable too long? If cable is it routed properly? You say it will turn the inverter off, there is no surge there so that is the easy way, perhaps the house battery low?

It is a Renogy inverter. www.renogy.com/renogy-1000w-12v-off-grid-pure-sine-wave-battery-inverter-w-cables/It will turn off under load or no load with the remote but not turn on using the remote under load or no load. I have not replaced the battery in the remote but I would think if it would turn off with the remote it would turn on unless there is some other problem. Same results if you are 5 feet away or 40 ft away.

It's an easy check, the remote that is, you got to start somewhere. Also, it takes more to turn anything on than it does to turn it off, regardless of load / no load. Does the switch on the inverter itself work properly?

Yes , the inverter will turn on and off manually. It is just kind of a pain since solar controls are in a locked tack room.

Then I'm betting on it being either a faulty button on the remote or a bad battery in the remote. Is this a recent purchase? Did it used to work and just recently quit? Either way, I'd give Renogy a call. Maybe they'll replace it for you.

You say the controller is locked up in a seperate tack room. Where are you trying to use the remote. There is a limit involved, try moving around and maybe even try it in the tack room and see what happens, otherwise I agree with jsb.
