SLA or sealed lead acid is the choice for most AGMs. 14.4v charge/ 13.8v float temp corrected.
I would keep the monthly 2hr equal @ 14.6v, many AGM/SLA batt makers suggest equalization. I use SLA setting for my small AGM/SLA battery with monthly 2 hr equal.
Seems the only way to avoid eqal is to use GEL setting

thanks for the info. i've heard bad things about equalizing AGM batteries. potential damage. what type of batteries are you using? which brand also?

This is from Trojan's website:
Deep-cycle AGM or gel batteries should NEVER be equalized.
W A R N I N G Do not equalize deep-cycle AGM or gel batteries.
Equalization involves overcharging the battery which is apparently very bad for AGM batteries.

For anyone that might view this in the future, I called Renogy and they recommended using the Gel setting - #2 on the MPPT.

the 14.6v for 2 hrs is more of a top charge vs an equalization. Lifeline has an detail AGM battery manual, they call it conditioning vs equal page 20 lifelinebatteries.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/manual.pdfThe 2hr 'boost' )absorption may not be long enough to FULLY charge your battery. FULLY charging is the key so ya don't loose capacity. Repeated 90 or 95% charging causes the batt to slowly loose capacity. 'The battery is fully charged when the current drops below 0.5% of the battery’s rated capacity (0.5A for a 100Ah battery). ' Fancier controllers can be programed for this! Note that Trojan suggests 14.1 - 14.7 v charging voltage. They would not call 14.6v for 2 hrs monthly equalization! my AGM is a small 7ah that gets discharged 15% a day and recharged by solar, 400+ cycles so far, 13+ monthly 2 hr 'equalization' @ 14.6 temp compensated.

I called Trojan for my -AGM battery and they suggest slightly different parameters than the default GEL settings. Since the GEL settings cannot be modified, I need to be in USER mode so I can adjust the voltage values to what Trojan suggested. Problem is I don't have a direct access (or couldn't find it maybe..) to disabling equalization mode. Would setting the equalization time to 0 be the same thing as disabling equalisation (like in "gel" mode ?) Thanks !

you need the t-50 meter or m-5 meter check with your controller manufacturer for the right one it will give you access to make user parameters.

THE METER PLUGS INTO THE RS85 PLUG UNDER UNIT JUST PURCHASED ONE MYSELF GIVES THE ABILITY FOR HAVING CONTROLLER CLOSE TO BATTERY AND METER INSIDE FOR FULL CONTROL VERY COOL!
