Ok I'm confused. I guess I'm missing something. Can someone explain what direction they are talking about? WARNING: The inverter should never be mounted vertically on a vertical surface since it would present a hazard for the fan opening which is crucial for cooling the inverter.
When looking on the internet to me that's the way everyone mounts there inverter.
Thanks for your help.

They mean, "mount the inverter horizontally on a vertical surface so that the air flows through the unit from left to right (or from right to left)."
You don't want to mount the inverter vertically so that air flows through it from top to bottom (or from bottom to top). This is because if something were to fall into the unit, it could potentially jam the fan blades, causing the inverter to overheat from lack of airflow.
Mounting it horizontally reduces this risk.

Thanks for clearing that up. That makes since and I was planning on mounting it horizontal anyway but I was wondering why? What I've seen most people mount them wrong.. Many thanks
