I just purchased the 100 Watt single panel Renogy solar panel kit with Wanderer charge controller for my RV. I mainly boondock and will use the system to maintain the batteries in conjunction with a generator. The RV has a 3 stage converter/charger. I have also just upgraded to two 6 volt batteries in series.
I have the following questions on the installation:
1. On the fuse between the panel and charge controller, should it be located at the solar panel (using a Renogy MC4 inline fuse holder) or at the charge controller connection (using an inline ATC fuse holder)? I am concerned about accessibility to the MC4 fuse if it is on the roof under the panel.
2. Is it OK to put a battery switch between the charge controller and batteries? My plan is to use a 3 pole switch that will enable the battery to be totally off, connected to solar, connected to the RV converter/charger, or connected to both solar and RV converter. This supports both indoor and outdoor storage of the RV.
3. With the set-up above, where is the best location to fuse between the charge controller and battery? At the battery, between the charge controller and switch, or both?
4. Is it OK to use in-line ATC fuse holders at these loactions or should I upgrade to 30 AMP circuit breakers (like those made by Bussman or Sea Dog)?
5. On the series jumper for the batteries (positive to negative connection), is it OK to use a 4 gauge battery cable. Or should I go with something larger?
Thanks for the help and advice!

I see no need to fuse single panel.
As for disconnects, the order of connection and disconnect is important, warnings in the Wanderer manual should be headed. controller connects to batt first then the panels get connected, reverse for disconnect. My fear of disconnecting batteries before panel is real. I'd leave solar always connected and insure disconnect order when removing batts.

I think the only place where ATC is not ok is on permanent building installations, as it would not meet codes at least in the US. Something to do with life safety and first responders in case of a fire.
