I have 180 watt ~15 amp solar panels, was charging and my helper used a motor to test the panels( by jumping the connections on the charger) and now it flashes over voltage. Is it time to order a new one?

It sounds like he shorted it out... It sounds like you also need a new helper.. LOL

by jumpering which connections?
in any event, disconnect the panel(s), disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery, reconnect the panel(s), see if that gets it back to normal.

There is a burn spot on the screw for the positive feed from the panels. It seems to be working now, not sunny so I wil have to wait to see.
