I have the PWM30CC controller on my RV and I'd like to ensure I am setting this up correctly:
I intend to manually attach the solar panel when we arrive at destinations, so panels are not permanently attached to the controller.
So I have two questions (perhaps they are related):
1. The normal mode of operation I require is SOLAR panel not connected - I want to have the have BATTERY and LOAD connected to the controller as normal use, and then add in the SOLAR when needed.
I am trying to install this in a way that makes it flexible, allowing me the option of setting up and using the solar panel only when needed. My concern is that the instructions for the controller doesn't cover this scenario - the assumption is that the SOLAR is charging the BATTERY.. and the LOAD is then added afterwards, optionally. But as I stated, I want the BATTERY connected to the LOAD permanently, and optionally to connect the SOLAR when needed.
So - is this method supported by the controller? I just dont want to have make a lot of connections all the time just to get the solar panel connected in - so I'd rather leave everything wired up and then connect the solar panel when needed...
2. Can you explain what "LOAD CONTROL OPTIONS" actually do? e.g. if a workload is "Light will be on for 5 hours after sundown" - what exactly is going on in the controller as a results of choosing this option?

I want the BATTERY connected to the LOAD permanently, and optionally to connect the SOLAR when needed. So - is this method supported by the controller? Absolutely. You can connect and disconnect the solar with no problem. The batteries need to be the first thing connected to the controller so that it senses the proper voltage range. After that, you can connect or disconnect the solar or load with no problem whatsoever. Can you explain what "LOAD CONTROL OPTIONS" actually do? e.g. if a workload is "Light will be on for 5 hours after sundown" - what exactly is going on in the controller as a results of choosing this option? The controller looks for any kind of solar activity from the panels. It uses this to determine whether or not the sun is up or not. It then turns the load on or off based upon the load control options. So, in the "Light will be on for 5 hours after sundown" scenario, the controller waits until it gets no light from the solar panels (IE Sun has gone down). It starts sending power from the batteries to the load, counts down from 5 hours, and then stops sending power from the batteries to the load.
