(check youtube for well nuts) Then covered the screw head with sealant.

Look at the back of the installation manual, it will show an example of how to do this, with well nuts. The only suggested way. I too did it this wayl, however, I added another layer of "Eternabond tape" to give it an extra thickness for the 90 degree angles of the mounting brackets.
