I am using the Rover 20A in a design and had hoped to be able to read data from the controller using my embedded Linux Single Board Computer. Is there a serial protocol specification for the Rover family of Renogy Controllers? Does this controller use Modbus and is there a Modbus specification for the Rover?

Keep us posted on if you manage to get it to work. Another thing you could do is Man In The Middle the COM ports talking through the desktop app and figure the instruction set out.
I'd like to tinker more but I installed the solar setup with the Rover at my mom's house and she lives very far away. Getting any info before I head back there would let me maximize the time to play around with the setup.

Hi,
I'm also interested in making a control application via RS232 for an ROV20. I'm evaluating programming it with Arduino or with an AMX system. both have RS232 and RS485 ports. What I can not find is the pinout connection of the RJ12 connector of the ROV20. I also do not find the protocol used for this device. Do you know where I can get it? If I get this information, when I have something programmed I'll show it here so that other people can use it.
