Using the Commander 60 Charge Controller:
I had been using the Solor Monitoring Software (Simplified V1.2) for over a week (Windows 10)
It was running on my COM10 port.
I then tried to use a different monitoring software - did not get it to work.
But, when i went back to the "Simplified" software, the software would not connect to the COM10 Port. it gave me errors:
"COM10 has been occupied by other software.
among other things, I have...
1) uninstalled the other software.
2) uninstalled the "Simplified" software
3) uninstalled the COM10 Port
4) reinstalled the "Simplifed" software.
When i did the software re-install, the port was automatically installed and showed up in my Device Manager as:
XR21B1411 USB UART (COM 10).
Upon running the software, i still get the messages:
Solar Station Monitor Startup
Synchronizing Device Time...
Operation failed. The operation has timeout(COM10).
I get the feeling that before i start up the software, COM10 is already being used by something else!
Oh, i wanted to add. When the software is on my screen (but not monitoring), i have gone into the "Communications(C)" tab. it comes up as COM7, and i always have to change it to COM10 and click update. as soon as i exit that Communications screen and if i go back in, it reads COM7 again. to me this says that the COM10 did not take. (COM7 is for a bluetooth dongle.)
Update (20170919 12:09) i installed the software program onto my laptop (i had been using my pc), and i'm finding the same exact problems.
I've checked the cable (looks fine). when i unplug the usb cable from my Laptop (or PC) i get the "disconnect beep" and it also shows that the port is no longer on my Device Manager in Windows. plugging the USB back in returns the Port to Device Manager. to me this means that there is SOMETHING going on between the Commander 60 and my laptop.
Could someone please help me?!!!!?
thanks in advance,
