Hey so Im working on designing a campervan power systeem that has 4 35AH deep cycle batteries chained together, that are charged from 1. Solar 2. The vans alternator and 3. An AC power inlet. My first question is this: If I have the solar always connected and charging, will the Wanderer charge controller sense when another input is connected and change to float charge?
Secondly, if Im charging my batteries via a 140 amp alternator, will that mess up the Wanderer charge controller which is only rated to 40 amps? I dont plan on running the alternator power directly through that charge controller but Im concerned about power flowing up towards the charge controller from the battery side. Are my concerns well founded and how could I prevent that?

yes, multiple charge work well together.
no, the puny alternator charge over the small wire and sensing your starter battery will not mess with the controller.
keep the solar connected 24/7/365 and add the other sources when needed/available.
