We've all done it. I started with 200w then uped to 400w and after a few times out, it wasn't enough. I now have 600w. My wife goes to sleep with the TV on, I'm not going to tell her she can't do that LOL. I use tools during the day for wood working. It's relaxing to work with wood while your in the middle of the desert. Wow! Solar opened so much up to me.
Forgot, yes I have a diesel generator, but I rarely use it, unless we have lots of cloudy days, but not likely here That sounds like fun, After getting a good set of batteries my 400 soon to be 500w system is working great... I've been using saws, vacuum, during the day and my 1930s fridge running 24/7.. It works better than I had ever hoped...

But I might ask what about future? Even a bit more, kids playing music, TV starts to come into the picture or even just movies from a DVD, then you might need more. Man it's great to hear someone else finally saying what wish had been said before I bought my set up and what I've started saying as of late.... Thank you...

It really depends on what your wanting to run with your panel.. Also don't forget that you might want to up grade in the future... Don't buy something to small just to get by that you can't up grade at a later date.. I wish someone would have told me that in the beginning.. I thought I was doing just that.. Boy was I wrong..

It wouldn't be more than 20'. So renogy has a 500 watt that has a remote? I never saw that one on the site. Yep I just got one I guess it was 3 weeks ago.. I bought it on ebay.... It's cheaper there... It should work fine at just 20 feet...

I have a 500w and a 2000w Renogy inverter with a remote and it works well but it will depend on how far your shed is away from your cabin???

I'm not sure how long you can run it and it still work properly.. You should call Renogy tech as they don't answer questions on here very often. I'm not sure why they don't??? But they don't..
I bet you will check your MT-50 more often than you think.. I check mine quite often so I don't put to much strain on my batteries.. As I'm still learning what I can do and what I can't..
Hope this helps??

No you will need to go to a bigger charge controller.. You are right at it's limits.. I would go as big as you can afford just in case you want to bigger later..
