My batteries get to 29.2 almost every day. That is good, others with not enough harvest/too much usage end up with poor specific gravity in their batteries and then need to cut usage to charge them FULLY or find a way to FULLY charge. As I previous stated your poor harvest with no load was likely due to the charge profile limiting current to prevent overcharge or float mode which is a lower voltage set pt. If you note the charge profile in the manual you'll note the concept is the batts get to 14.6 x 2 for 24v and should stay there for at least a couple of hrs to be called FULLY charged. It may take longer than 2 hrs and it may take higher voltage. Your grey matter will determine that with time (trends and tendencies), keep some notes of sg/charge voltage/absorption time/etc. Same with water usage, if too much too often then ya may need lower voltage (unlikely unless you adjust it up ward to achieve FULL charge). It takes ENERGY to totally reverse the chemical reaction to declare FULLY charged. I like 14.8v or even higher for lead acid deep cycle, the manufacturer of the battery may have a desired charge profile. CC do temp compensation so seeing higher voltage in the cold and lower in the heat is normal. The key is to FULLY charge regularly, for me that means at least weekly. Batts should last 10+yrs if treated nice. Repetitive undercharge yields hard sulfate difficult to reverse and down time to deal with it.

I do have a more blockage than I like. Three pines on the west side spread out. That may be the next project. A little blockage in the morning. Sun doesn't hit till 45 min after first light. I see now that I will increase the kwh if I add batteries. And having 3000 watt inverter it will give me more bang. Yah I have to stay even to keep 24 volt. I had 8 panels with a 40 amp and just upgraded. My other controller didn't give the kwh specs. What kind of controller do you have? I went to the 60amp mppt epever tracer. So far I am not really happy with it especially the stupid soc. I have the software and it has a usb out but nothing shows up in the stats. Don't know how to find tech support that might help me. Maybe if it worked it would give me a true soc and other good stats. We had foggy morning the day of those results. I hard to say.

I have a 60a Renogy commander and I love it, it does way more than the 40a Renogy CC I had before.. My SOC is always off and what I have read they always are and that's why I say ignore it means nothing act like it's not even there...

Thanks and thanks. Tattoo then we have the exact same controller. You got yours from Renogy. Mine came from Ali express a bit cheaper. No tech support etc. Are you able to get reading on your computer when plugged into usb? When I plug it in it wont populate.

Rabird, Thanks, So the 50% soc is the best cutoff point and you think they may last 10 years. Should you ever draw down more or is it better to draw down less?

50% is not CUT IN STONE but works out to the best bang for the buck, be nicer to your batts like FULLY charging regularly Shallower discharges do less harm to a batt as deep heavy ones. repetitive undercharging reduces life ... I'f expect ~1500 cycles to 50% from a quality deep cycle, @ 300 cycles a year that's 5 yrs. Do ya actually 'cycle' your batteries or just use power when it is made. Try this video for software help. www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7qaGk6WsXcI used the software with epsolar's view star, had a fee issues I worked out, can't remember but I got it working. They do make a wifi and bluetooth dongle and a android app! The app for my srnesolar CC is nice, I can go away long term and monitor daily max and min voltage, for a year or kwh generated ...

I've never had to plug mine into a computer mine works just fine and tells me everything I need to know... {KISS} Yes sir they look very close to the same... I wish I had seen that one before but I really like the one I have now...

Hey thanks for the video. Got it working now. There is a newer version now that works with windows 10 it is version 1.8. I thought maybe there was more on the computer program that isn't on the controller but it appears not. Same stupid sos reading. I may remote it into the house later.

The graphs are nice to see what is going on but ya gotta keep the software running long enough to see the graphs.

Man you need to stop worrying about the SOC... It has nothing to do with anything...Thanks for letting me know that hooking the CC to a computer doesn't tell you anything new... I don't give two craps about a graph... KISS solar doesn't need graphs... My CC did an equalize today and it did it in 4 hours. I think that's very good for this time of year... My new set up is running GREAT.....

My two batteries at 24 volts show 26.5 2hours after dark with inverter off. I see 25.46 is 100 %. Are my batteries being damaged? Should I look into changing settings in the controller?

So I installed the new 3000 watt JN-H pure inverter from echo worthy- dc house and 2 new 112 ah 29 max deep cycle batteries for Walmart. Now I have 4 batteries at 24 watts and 1500 watts in panels. A couple of questions. The inverter comes with 4 cables. I guess they want to hook up 2 to p and 2 to n. Scared me when I first touched it to the positive pole with a spark. Second time it did not spark. Not sure why it sparked the inverter was off. Should I hook 1 wire from each of the empty battery poles to the inverter? The wiring diagrams I see hook one wire from 1 of the battery poles to the inverter. I went and hooked it with 2 wires from 1 pole to the inverter. The cables they gave me have copper heads that has 80 amp stamped on them. It does not have an awg listing on the wire. It does say 450/750v and 10mmSquared. What ever that means. Also I don't have a shutoff between the battery and the inverter. How important is that?

Full sun today little worried about the Amperage. I put a 20@ breaker from the solar to controller. I was watching it and it popped up to 20.8 amps. I thought with 3 sets of 5 100 watt panels it should only be 3 times 5.29 amps or 15.9 amps put out by panels. The 4 batteries at 24 volts were at 27 volts at the time and I was using 500 watts inside. Real happy with the upgrade lots more energy with the 4 batteries. Thanks for the tip.
